Ice Hotel Iceland?
People also tend to ask about an Ice Hotel Iceland – again this is a common misconception, there are no Ice Hotels in Iceland – the closest Icehotel is in Sweden – our most popular package is the 3 night Ice Hotel which is for the Swedish Ice Hotel.
Discover all of our ice hotel holiday packages! If you’re looking to travel to Iceland and don’t mind not staying in an ice hotel or glass Igloo then we can arrange packages to your requirements. Despite the Name Iceland the yearround temperature averages doesn’t make it souitable to build an icehote; You can, however, visit and even go into a glacier. Because the snow is less regular than in Sweden, Finland and Norway it is also less common to find activities like Husky sledging and snowmobiling. So if you want a break with a glass igloo and/or Ice hotel just let us know and we’ll be happy to provide some suggestions that might be best for you.

Exploring Iceland can feel akin to admiring intricate details of a watercolour painting, such is the country’s natural beauty. Much of that beauty is also unspoilt by human influence, enabling you to feel as though you have essentially stepped right into a nature documentary.
Iceland also has much to recommend it, whether you are more attracted to the day or night. Though the days and nights there are roughly equal in length during the March and September equinoxes, December is dark for almost 20 hours a day, while the sun can remain up at 11pm in the summer.
Getting used to the way of doing things in Iceland also does not have to be a massive culture shock. English is widely spoken here despite Icelandic being the country’s official language – and most of the shops, restaurants and hotels accept credit/debit card payments.
The most obvious draw for tourists is Reykjavík – Iceland’s capital city, comprising more than a third of the country’s population. The city is renowned as one of the world’s cleanest and safest, and includes the exhibition space Safnahúsið, which belongs to the National Museum of Iceland.
Other notable settlements in Iceland include the picturesque Akureyri, which lies on the Ring Road, and Keflavík, which can easily be explored by foot and provides ready access to the geothermal spa the Blue Lagoon, as well as Keflavík International Airport.
Still, you should be wary of making the all-too-common tourist mistake of sticking to well-populated areas. That’s because many of Iceland’s most memorable sites are actually organic spots much further afield – like the large volcanoes, which you can see without having to pay any entry fees.
On the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, you can even find the ice-covered volcanic crater where the classic Jules Verne science fiction novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth was set.
Why look for a manmade light display when the world naturally creates its own? Our Iceland Northern Lights Explorer package offers you a great chance of seeing this delightful aurora in the sky – especially as finding the right conditions for you to do so could otherwise be a hit-and-miss affair.
While on the subject of stunning sights, you can also see plenty of them by riding a horse to Iceland’s Golden Circle. The key attractions you can expect to see here include the Gullfoss waterfall and the hot spring Geysir, the name of which inspired the English word ‘geyser’.
You might have also heard of Iceland’s Midnight Sun, but what is it? It is a natural phenomenon where the sun sits above or close to the horizon on an almost 24-hour basis. With our Midnight Sun summer package, you can enjoy amazingly lengthy days of sunlight.

Winter temperatures usually range from -1°C to 4°C (30°F to 39°F), but it can feel colder with wind. Inland areas may drop below -10°C (14°F). Iceland’s weather can be very unpredictable with snow, rain and wind therefore temperatures can change suddenly.
