2 hour snowmobile safari

No trip to Northern Finland is complete without experiencing snowmobiling, even if it’s just for a short visit. First, you'll get acquainted with the snowmobile, receive full safety instructions, and have a driving lesson with our guide. Once everyone feels confident, we’ll set off on a short adventure through the nearby surroundings.

4 hour snowmobile adventure

Snowmobiling at Nellim is big fun. There is unlimited wilderness, lots of tracks and beautiful sceneries all around you once you get on a snowmobile. All the snowmobiling activities will start with the instructions and after a lesson and safety instructions, we will head off for an adventure. During the day we will enjoy lunch by the open fire.

2.5 hour aurora snowmobiling

On this snowmobiling tour, you'll venture into the Nellim area in search of the Northern Lights. You'll head toward open areas where the chances of seeing the Aurora are greatest. The driving distance will vary depending on the weather; if the sky looks promising, we'll stop to enjoy the stunning display. To drive the snowmobile, the participant must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license in Finland.

Reindeer Activities

2 hour Meet the reindeer

Reindeer and reindeer herding play a significant role in the history of Northern Finland. "Meet the Reindeer" is a guided tour that offers a glimpse into the life of reindeer herders. The guide will share insights into Sámi culture and the life of a reindeer. You’ll have the opportunity to feed the reindeer, and the curious animals may even approach you and eat directly from your hand.

Snowshoeing through the woods at night is a magical experience. We’ll wander through the Nellim forest until we reach the campsite, where we’ll enjoy warm drinks and gaze at the sky, hoping for a display of the Northern Lights.

If you’re looking for a peaceful walk through beautiful snowy landscapes, this is the perfect tour for you. We’ll provide snowshoes and poles if you’d like. Together, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through the surrounding nature, and along the way, our guide will share fascinating stories and information about Finnish wildlife and the natural environment. It’s a great way to explore the area in tranquility.

4 hour Snowshoeing adventure

On this excursion, we will head to the Nellim forests and hills. During the trek you will learn interesting stories and information about Finnish nature and animals. This trip is perfect for photographers and nature lovers, as snowshoeing is a true eco-activity. Outdoor lunch is served by open fire.

Husky Safari

3 hour husky safari - (driving time approx 1.5-2 hours)

Huskies will pull your sled across the stunning winter landscapes of the frozen Lake Inari. The excitement of the dogs is contagious, and as they fall silent on the trail, you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the peacefulness of nature. During the Husky Safari, guests drive the husky sleds themselves, with the rate based on two people sharing one husky team (switching drivers halfway).

Ice Fishing

2 hour Ice fishing experience

Ice fishing is a beloved winter activity in the area, and we invite you to experience it for yourself! Once we reach the ice of a remote wilderness lake, our guide will share the secrets of this local tradition. We’ll learn how to drill holes in the ice, use the fishing gear, and then try our luck. While we wait for the fish to bite in the stunning Arctic lake surroundings, we’ll enjoy some warm drinks to keep cosy.

4 hour Ice fishing trip by snowmobile sleigh

Throughout the day, you'll discover fascinating facts about life in the North. We’ll embark on a scenic snowmobile sleigh ride to the best ice-fishing spots, where our guide will show us how to make holes in the ice. Then, we’ll compete to see who can catch the most fish. If we’re lucky enough to catch any, we might cook them over an open fire! The day also includes a delicious lunch prepared by the fire.

3 hour Aurora hut by car

On this trip, we will drive to the renowned Paatsjoki Bridge. Since the River Paatsjoki never freezes, it creates stunning reflections on the open water when the Aurora Borealis makes an appearance. This bridge is a favorite spot for Aurora photographers. We’ll spend the evening there, enjoying some hot drinks to stay warm.

2 hour Cross country skiing

In the past, cross-country skiing was the primary means of transportation, and it’s a skill deeply rooted in Finnish culture. There’s no quieter way to move through snowy, frozen landscapes than on cross-country skis. Our guide will teach you the basics of skiing, and once everyone feels comfortable, we’ll take a leisurely loop through the surrounding nature. We’ll ski at a relaxed pace, stopping to take photos and enjoy warm drinks along the way.

For air travel, we recommend flying into Ivalo Airport. There are convenient flights available from the UK via Helsinki to Ivalo, as well as some direct routes. Finnair offers daily flights year-round. Once you arrive, we can arrange a transfer from Ivalo Airport to Nellim, approximately a 45-minute drive away.

Can I have my child sit on the back of the snowmobile?

Can I join the activities if I'm pregnant?

When participating in any of our activities, it is important that you inform our guides about any health or kinematic issues beforehand. Our snowmobile and husky safaris are not recommended for pregnant women due to the vibrations of uneven tracks and the exhaust fumes of the snowmobiles. There is a small crash risk involved too, this is due to the speed, conditions, and type of activity. Please discuss with your doctor if you feel unsure about the activities you are taking part in.
